Basic Mechanic Tools

Purpose and Goal

The purpose and goal of this document is to provide a minimum set of mechanic's tools to all Maintenance Foremen/Crew Leaders so that they can regularly perform basic job duties and mechanical repairs on their assigned equipment.

Procedures

Each Maintenance Shop Manager will be responsible for seeing to it that the following basic mechanic tool set is supplied as a minimum:

Tool Box with Lock and Keys

Allen Wrench Set 1/16" to 3/8"

1/2" Drive Socket Set 3/8" to 1 1/4" with 2 Extensions

Ratchet and Pull Handle

8" Pliers - Slip Joint

6" Needle Nose Pliers

10" Locking Pliers

12" Adjustable Wrench

14" Pipe Wrench

Combination Wrench Set 3/8" to 1 1/4"

Flat Screw Drivers 1/4", 5/16", 3/8" Standard Handle Length

Phillip Screw Drivers, #1, #2, #3 Standard Handle Length

Tork Wrench (District Sign Crews only)

Each Maintenance Foreman/Crew Leader will be personally responsible for the tools' condition and safekeeping

Whenever a Foreman/Crew Leader is transferred, retires, resigns or is terminated the Area Maintenance Manager will reinventory the tools and the Foreman/Crew Leader will be responsible for replacing any missing tools.

It will be the responsibility of the Foreman's/Crew Leader's supervisor to see to it that all tools have been accounted for or reimbursement received prior to finalizing any of the before mentioned personnel actions.
