The proper identification of Department of Transportation vehicles and equipment is an important factor in the effective management of the Department's fleet. Clear, highly visible identification of state owned vehicles serves as a deterrent against unauthorized use, vehicle abuse, excessive highway speeds and negligent driving.
Therefore, the Departmental policy concerning the marking of vehicles and equipment shall adhere to Title 50-19-2 of the Official Code of Georigia Annotated as follows.
All Department of Transportation vehicles and equipment shall have the approved DOT door decal affixed to the left and right front doors of the vehicle. In addition, a seven digit number shall be affixed to the left front of the hood and right rear of the trunk.
Further, any person operating a motor vehicle owned by the Department without the proper marking as indicated above shall be guilty of a misdemeanor as stated in Title 50-19-2 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated.
The placement of bumper stickers containing commercial advertising or material on Department owned vehicles or equipment is prohibited.
