The Georgia DOT provides a variety of transportation and roadside permits. Please review the list below and select the appropriate permit.
Residents may obtain permits for vehicles that exceed legal weight and size (oversize/overweight), according to Georgia law (Code 32—Georgia Criminal Law & Motor Vehicle Handbook) through the Oversize Permit Unit. This unit provides the following permits

Approved Routes for Hauling Burnt Timber
An overview of the maximum GVW (gross vehicle weight) and approved routes for hauling burnt timber.
Note: It is the transporters responsibility to check the website on Monday at 10am for updates regarding travel to and from the timber processing facilities in South Georgia.

Burnt Timber Wood Chips
Permits will be issued for trucks hauling burnt wood chips to/from Wood Processing Plants. The maximum gross vehicle weight will be 88,000 pounds, travel is limited to routes identified on the map named Permit Routes for the Removal of Wood Chips.
