Online Manual Organization

The online version of the GDOT Design Policy Manual is separated into four primary Tabs, which are always shown at the top of the web page:

Home - The Home tab provides an introduction to the online version of the GDOT Design Policy Manual and this page on how to use and access this manual.

Design Manual - The largest area of this online Manual consists of the chapters that comprise the GDOT Design Policy Manual. The Design Manual Tab includes a Table of Contents that provides links to any Chapter or subsection of the manual.  In addition, the Download Manual feature allows users to download all or part of the GDOT Design Policy Manual in a portable document format (.pdf) file.

Resources - The resources part of this online Manual lists the an acronym glossary, definitions of terms, references for publications that are referenced in the design policy manual, and information regarding the Manual implementation.

Contact - To report errors or omissions of the online or hard copy of the GDOT Design Policy Manual, e-mail the contact listed on this Tab.

Layout and Navigation

As mentioned above, each tab of the manual is accessed by a button that is always shown at the top of the web page.  Other elements of the online version of the GDOT Design Policy Manual include:

Sub-Level Buttons - list subsections of the current tab or Chapter. Click on any of these buttons to go directly to a subsection.

Design Manual - provides links to the Manual Table of Contents and the web page from which you may Download the Manual.

Quick Chapter Select - provides a pull-down list so that you may quickly access the selected chapter.

Resources - provides links to the Manual glossaries (both for acronyms and definitions of terms), References, and Implementation.

Other useful features include:

<Prev and Next> Links - clicking on < Prev or Next> allows you to move to the previous or next page in the Manual, respectively.

Top - clicking on the Top link will move your cursor to the top of the current web page.

Context Links - are found throughout the manual.  Clicking on a context link (linked text within the body of the Manual, which are recognizable because they are shown in blue and the cursor changes into a hand symbol when on or near the text), will open a new window and a web page that provides additional, outside resources.  An example of this is AASHTO.  Clicking on the context link (in this case the acronym "AASHTO") opens the website for this organization.

Table / Figure Links - clicking on a table or figure link will open a new window that contains an enlarged version of the table or figure, which may not be legible in the body of the online manual.
