6.6. Sidewalks

6.6.1. Location

Sidewalks should be at least 5-ft. wide. Sidewalks should be offset a minimum of 2-ft. from the back of curb (6-ft. desirable), with a grass strip usually separating the curb and sidewalk. A different material may be used to separate the curb from the sidewalk, as long as the alternative material has sufficient contrasting color and texture from the sidewalk. The city, or authority responsible for sidewalk maintenance (including the grass strip, if required), may choose a location and width greater than the minimum values.
