1. Q. What is the website address for the Office of Consultant Design?
A. The URL is: http://www.dot.state.ga.us/dot/preconstruction/consultantdesign/index.shtml.
2. Q. When I reach the Office of Consultant Design web page, how do I get to the Prequalification web page?
A. There is a link on the Office of Consultant Design's web page entitled, Prequalification. Click on this link.
3. Q. Is the application for prequalification (form PC1-1) located on the web site?
A. Yes, there are four links towards the bottom of the Prequalification web page and one of them is entitled, "Application For Prequalification".
4. Q. Once a firm submits their prequalification application, what is the procedure?
A. Once the Office of Consultant Design receives the application package, this information is then placed into a database. The package(s) are then sent to the appropriate reviewer(s) for their recommendation(s). The reviewer has approximately a week to ten days to make the recommendation(s). (Please note: Reviewer's recommendation times may vary due to backlog, vacations, new employees, etc.) Once the reviewer makes the recommendation(s), the recommendation(s) are sent back to the Office of Consultant Design. After the Office of Consultant Design has received all reviewers' recommendations for a particular firm, these recommendations then go before the Prequalification Committee to be voted on. The Committee meets once a month and these dates are posted on the web site. If a firm is approved for certain area classes, then the firm will receive a certificate with the approved categories listed. If a firm is denied for area classes, a letter will be sent to the firm.
5. Q. How often does the Prequalification Committee meet?
A. The committee meets once a month. The schedule is posted on the prequalification web page.
6. Q. Does a firm have to be established five years before becoming prequalified?
A. No. However, if staff experience was earned at a different firm, this information must be listed on the application.
7. Q. As the requirements for the 9.02 (Rainfall and Runoff Reporting) and the 9.03 (Field Inspections for Compliance of Erosion and Sedimentation) now require WECS (Worksite Erosion Control Supervisor Certification Training) certification, how do I find out how to attend the classes?

8. Q. How do I find out what requirements are needed in order to become prequalified in the different area classes?
A. On the Prequalification web page, there is a link entitled , Manual of Guidance . Click on that link and you will find the requirements there.
9. Q. Does the Office of Consultant Design have an electronic application for prequalification?
A. Yes, however, we are in the process of testing out sending and receiving this electronic form.
10. Q. Once I have completed my application where do I send it?

11. Q. How long will it take to receive my certificate or letter of rejection?
A. Your firm should receive the certificate or the denial letter no later than two weeks after the Prequalification Committee Meeting.
12. Q. May I contact the reviewers?
A. The only time a consultant should contact a reviewer is when a firm has specific questions regarding a particular area class or if they want to know the reason they were denied in the area class they applied for.
Q. Is an original signature required on the prequalification application?
A. Yes, however, with the electronic form, this office will accept a scanned signature.
Q. Are consultants allowed to attend the Prequalification Committee Meetings?
A. Yes.
13. Q. When does my certificate expire?
A. Three (3) years from the date the certificate was issued.
14. Q. When do I need to submit my renewal application?
A. Within three (3) months of the expiration date.
15. Q. How Far In Advance Should I Submit My Package?
A. Since the Committee meets only once a month, there is a maximum of thirty days allowed for the processing and reviewing of an application. Therefore, in order for a package to make the review of the Committee, it must be submitted no later than the second Friday of the month prior to the up coming months meeting; (the second Thursday ) of the month. ALL packages received after this date will be processed for the following months agenda. NO EXCEPTIONS
