The Public Works Civil Technician (PWCT) Diploma curriculum
is designed to develop future public works professionals to meet the increasing
demand in the field. The PWCT curriculum is an opportunity for Georgia
Department of Transportation (GDOT) employees, public works industry employees
and high school graduates to pursue a one-year diploma program at a technical
college. GDOT employees will be prepared for career advancement opportunities
within the Department; high school students will be prepared for various
career opportunities with the Georgia Department of Transportation, county
and municipal governments, and with private sector construction and consultant
engineering firms.
Classes began in Fall 2003 at five technical colleges around the state.
Evening classes are available to accommodate full-time work schedules.
Entry into the program requires a high school diploma or GED, and qualifying
scores on the asset placement test. The program is Hope Grant eligible.

Registration: March 3rd - 12th
