Electronic Plan Transfer

The DOT/Utility Electonic Plan Transfer Program was the recipient of the 1998 Awarding Computing Excellence (ACE) Award in the Service category by the Governor's Information Technology Policy Council!

Utility Companies in Georgia: If you are interested in being part of Electronic Plan Transfer (EPT) please review the guidelines below and then contact your local District Utilities Office for more info.

Description

EPT is the use of electronic files and FTP(file transfer protocol) to communicate highway project status to affected utility companies. The benefits of this process is that it:

  • Will save printing costs
  • Will speed project plan development
  • Will aid the Utility Companies in GIS applications

Utility companies can now easily receive and send their utility information for highway projects in electronic format. Electronic files can be provided to Utility companies for the electronic placement of their existing and proposed facilities on DOT projects.

The Department currently uses MicroStation Cad software for plan development.

If your organization currently uses Microstation you may download the current GDOT Microstation Workspace that includes several custom menus, cell libraries, and linestyles that are employed when preparing plans for the Department. This setup will allow you to incorporate the standard line styles and cells shown below into your Microstation drawings.
