Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating all statewide maintenance activities, bridge inspections and bridge maintenance.
  • Oversees statewide roadway striping and sign maintenance through the Maintenance Activity Unit
  • Manage roadside enhancement and beautification programs including Adopt-a-Highway and the Wildflower Program.
  • Manage funds from the sale of the wildflower auto tag.
  • Maintain grounds and facilities at state welcome centers and rest areas
  • Develop contracts for letting of maintenance projects such as roadway resurfacing, culvert extensions, and bridge painting.

 

Bridge Maintenance and Inventory Adopt-A-Highway Program
This site provides information on posted structures on State Routes including standard bridge postings, and posted bridge locator application. Also links to the NBIS coding guide, which aids inspectors who receive structural inventory and appraisal information. A partnership between the Georgia DOT and Keep Georgia Beautiful that establishes volunteer groups to remove litter from roadsides.

Vegetation Management at Outdoor Advertising Outdoor Advertising
This site provides information on the Vegetation Management program and permit process, which allows limited vegetation removal on state right of way to create a Sign Viewing Zone. General overview of the Department's outdoor advertising rules and regulations. Provides a list of outdoor advertising permit forms, certifications and contacts.
