The goal of the Materials Information Management System application is to provide a customizable software product that improves the efficiency and accuracy of laboratory and field testing, sample tracking and reporting. In addition, the application will link contract pay items material quantities to sampling and testing requirements, and to acceptance criteria of test results.
The software and associated databases are designed and integrated for ease of use and will be centrally located and accessible by internal and external users throughout the State.
Access to MIMS will be through an Internet, Intranet with a standalone or Wireless environment that provides a larger base of accessibility to remote locations. The improvements involve automating various OMR processes via interactions with shared databases to ensure sampling and testing is performed by qualified technicians.
MIMS data will be used for statistical analysis of materials, test results, and manufactured products used in construction projects to support the Quality Assurance Program’s acceptance and independent assurance activities ultimately ensuring and certifying that the results of the tests used in the acceptance program are accurate and indicate that the materials incorporated in the construction work, and the construction operations controlled by sampling and testing, were in conformity with the approved plans and specifications.
