The Testing Bureau consists of two branches:
Physical and Chemical Testing,
and Testing Management
The Physical and Chemical Testing Branch performs physical
and chemical tests on a wide variety of materials used in highway construction
and maintenance. Included in this branch is the aggregate, base design,
cement, chemical, physical and soil labs. This branch is also responsible
for monitoring Wastewater Treatment Facilities at Welcome Centers or Rest
Areas. This branch maintains the Qualified
Products List for the Department. In addition, this branch maintains
files and schedules meetings for the Department's New
Products Evaluation Committee , proccesses the New
Product Evaluation Forms, and coordinates lab or filed evaluations.
Branch Chief: Brad Young
The Testing Management Branch is primarily responsible for all field testing
on all construction projects. Seven Testing Management Operation Centers,
located across the state, perform the sophisticated testing necessary to
assure that high quality standards are met in both the production and construction
of a variety of roadway items and to also coordinate the work of technicians
in the field. This testing program operates under the central control of
the Office of Materials and Research. This centralized testing system is
unique in the nation. The BBS
File Transfer Logs are available for review.
