Transportation Enhancement Activities in Georgia
8. Brunswick Waterfront

Brunswick has always been a city of intermodal transportation. Brunswick's initial growth depended on rail and port activity. Today, Brunswick is very much a participant in the national intermodal system. Brunswick is served well by rail, road, and of course, port facilities. The project's emphasis was on including bicyclists and pedestrians in the city's sense of intermodal travel.

The project was completed in May, 1997. A public waterfront overlook area was created, which was also tied into the downtown commercial district by handicap accessible sidewalks, and crosswalks. Landscaping enhanced the pedestrian ways, and the historic farmers market was relocated to the waterfront.
